If you watch the tabloids, you know that even stars have bad hair days. It seems that when professional stylists step out of the picture, humans basically have a less glamorous mane. But you can do your part to stay ahead of the battle by following these great hair care tips.
Use a professional conditioner formulated for your specific hair type
While you can save a bit on shampoo, a good, professional conditioner is a must-have. Look for products at the salon that are tailored to your hair type. For example: If you have color or perm, choose a conditioner for chemically treated hair. And stay away from that all-in-one shampoo and conditioner combo.
Choose a cut that suits your face and body shape
The number one mistake people make when choosing a new hairstyle is choosing a style based on popularity rather than how it will enhance their features. Always choose a new cut based on how it will enhance or reduce your facial features and shape. If you have broad shoulders, opt for a full-bodied, tightly-trimmed overhead cut.

Don’t forget your UV protector.
Just as your skin is damaged by wind and sun, so is your hair. To combat this, look for end products like mousses, gels, and sprays that block UV rays.
Keep your promise
Did you know that your hair will part faster than it grows? You need to get a trim every 6 to 8 weeks, even if it’s only a micro trim. Good hairdressers make them good because they know what to leave on the head, not let go.
Leave the chemicals to the experts
There’s a reason why cosmetologists need to go to school to learn how to handle chemicals and hair processes. You can do irreparable damage with these products even if the package says it’s easy.

And even if you don’t make your hair fall, you can look like a clown and pay a fortune to the hairdresser to fix your mess. (Note: Most stylists charge twice as much for corrective color as they do for normal color processing)
Get the colors for the flower and body
Each piece needs a bit of color to make it truly stunning. No matter if your tastes are subtle or dramatic, you can add interest and volume to your hair with a color process. Highlights, low light, full color, gray coverage, you name it, they are all great for your look.
Perform weekly conditioning maintenance
Even if your hair is perfectly healthy, it is constantly under attack by wind, sun, cold, and heat. During the hot summer months, your hair will be more damaged as it absorbs chlorine and other chemicals from your pool.
Get an ionic ceramic flat iron
Instead of frying your hair with a conventional metal-coated flat iron. Straighten your hair, adding shine and moisture with one of the negative ion flat irons. We personally use T3 irons for all of our work.
Choose your styling products wisely
Avoid products that leave buildup in your hair. If you see white dirt, it means your product is insoluble in water and may be coating your hair shaft. The buildup causes lameness, breakage and an inability to roll not to mention white flakes.
Did you know that if you use a towel after showering to dry your hair, you cause split ends and add static electricity to your hair.
Don’t rub the towel back and forth over your hair, curl the towel around your hair like you would squeeze crackers in your soup.
