Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that he will release two Avengers films in 2025. Both films will mark the end of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to premiere on May 2, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on November 7, 2025. The two films will close the saga of dozens of MCU films and TV series.
“[The two Avengers films] will complete the second saga of the MCU, which is of course The Multiverse Saga,” Kevin Feige said at the San Diego Comic Con 2022 event, Saturday (23/7) local time, quoted by AFP.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars will continue the story of Avengers: Endgame which was released in 2019. Quoted from Deadline, the last Avengers film became the highest-grossing film of all time with a profit of more than US $ 2.79 billion or equivalent to Rp. 418 trillion (US $ 1 = Rp. 14,798).
Avengers: Endgame tells the story of the continuation of the Avengers’ struggle against Thanos. They are trying to restore the universe to how it was after Thanos wiped out half the universe’s population five years ago.
In the end, the Avengers managed to subdue Thanos and bring everyone back. However, their struggle must be paid for by the death of Iron Man aka Tony Stark and Black Widow in Infinity War.
Meanwhile, the MCU is currently exploring the “multiuniverse” concept. Superheroes and villains intersect in parallel realities in an infinite universe.
