One Piece Film: Red Earns Rp 1.2 Trillion Profit

Since the end of last month, One Piece: Red has been the talk of the town among fans. Airing on September 6, the film adapted from Eiichiro Oda’s manga is said to have made more than IDR 1 trillion in profit for a month. For 4 consecutive weeks, One Piece: Red sold 8.6 million tickets. At the beginning of the broadcast, there were already 1.5 million tickets sold.

Within 9 days, Japanese people had bought 4.7 million tickets and that number continued to rise until day 023 with 8.2 million tickets. The final tally was 8.6 million over 26 days in theaters.This figure surpassed ticket sales in the film Top Gun: Maverick which made a profit of around 11.81 billion yen.

Until now Top Gun: Maverick still dominates Japanese theaters and distributors have not lowered it. Japanese cinemas also distributed approximately 2 million One Piece Comics Volume 4 Billion ‘Red’ booklets to moviegoers. It is considered to be one of the attractions.

The booklet was originally a gift for viewers who watched the film One Piece: Red, but now it’s something to look forward to. The second print will include a cover featuring Luffy and Shanks in Eiichiro Oda’s ‘Battle Wear’. One Piece: Red opened in Japan on August 6 and was ranked #1 at the box office in its opening week. In fact, the film earned 78% more in the first two days than the previous One Piece: Stampede.

After premiering in Japan on August 6, the crew of the Straw Hat Pirates will expand to France, Morocco, and Algeria on August 10. One Piece: Red premieres in Japanese theaters on August 6. Even One Piece: Red is also said to beat the Evangelion film and almost match the sales of Top Gun: Maverick in Japan. In its opening weekend, One Piece: Red was ranked first at the Japanese box office. In the first two days, it sold 1.58 million tickets and produced 78% more than the previous film, One Piece Stampede.

Various local Japanese media mentioned One Piece: Red as the film with the highest sales and revenue. Both from the number of tickets sold and the revenue generated. In Japan’s IMAX screenings, there are 27 theaters showing One Piece: Red since August 6. Not with regular cinemas in Japan.

The film centers on a new character named Uta who is known to be the daughter of Shanks. Kaori Nazuki is the voice of Uta, and Ado is the voice used when Uta sings. Director Goro Taniguchi who directed One Piece: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa wrote the screenplay. Meanwhile, Eiichiro Oda is the executive producer.
